Using the Six Laws of Persuasion in Negotiations

You can be more successful in negotiations if you must master the persuasion process to deliberately create the attitude change and subsequent actions necessary for persuading others to your way of thinking. In other words, you have to be able to "sell" your ideas in order to make changes in your favor, and in a win-win situation, provide the other side with a fair deal. This process appeals to the intellect, using logical and objective criteria, as well as a methodology that positively engages the emotions of the negotiators. The result of a successful negotiation is when all parties believe they've received a good deal.

Participants will learn what persuasion is and why it is useful.

Participants will understand the six laws of persuasion and how to apply them in their projects.

Participants will explore the ethics surrounding persuasion so they may strive for a “win-win” situation.

Connecting PMO Best Practices with Business Value and Alignment

Research has continually suggested a broken link between project efforts and business strategy. Business alignment, be it IT and the business, or alignment at the departmental and program level, is often cited as a primary challenge facing organizations across all industries and geographies.

This session will explore the PMO and business alignment link by providing a best practices approach to successful project offices. Drawing upon the experience, perspective, and insight from over 4000 Oracle PPM customers, we will look at the practices that ensure PMO success. Particular attention will be paid to critical areas of the PMO including:

  • Scope Management and Change Control
  • Work and Staff Management
  • Risk, Issue and Problem Management
  • Communication
  • Quality Management
  • Configuration, Infrastructure and Procurement Management

We will also highlight successful efforts at MetLife and other customers, and also introduce the value equation into the mix.
